(A) Title: “Pointy Fence”

Artist Statement: I liked the way the spikes were shaped and how they also looked like spears. I want the viewer to feel lonely because when I took the photograph, it made me feel very sad.



(B) Title: “The Museum”
Location: Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Artist Statement: I chose this photograph because of the pillars with the sun coming through. This photograph makes me feel like God is coming from heaven to earth. I want the viewer to feel excitement when they see my photograph. I chose this title because it is a museum.



(C) Title: “Sky”

Artist Statement: I took this photograph because of the cut out circle. This photograph made me feel like I am just looking out at the sky with the sun coming down. I want the viewer to feel the same way I do. I chose this title because most of what you can see is the sky. It was quiet the day I took this photograph.



(D) Title: “Shark Attack”

Artist Statement: I took this photograph because it reminds me of a shark. I wanted the viewer to feel worried, not only because of the shark, but because the structure seems like it is going to fall on the viewer as well.


(E) Title: “Graffiti”

Artist Statement: I chose this photograph of the graffiti on the dumpster because it looks fantastic. I want the viewer to see that graffiti can be creative. This photograph makes me feel happy that graffiti was invented.


(F) Title: “Black and White”

Artist Statement: I titled the photo “Black and White” because of the colors in the fabric. I want the viewer to feel confused because I feel confused when I look at it. I took this photograph because I thought the fabric looked pretty.


(G) Title: “Red Light”
Location: Our Saviors Lutheran Church

Artist Statement: I chose this title because the only reason I took this picture was because of that red light. I like this picture because there are a lot of things in it such as the church, telephone poles and stop lights.


(H) Title: “The Dragon”

Artist Statement:
I took this photograph because I thought it looked cool. This photograph makes me feel happy and mad at the same time. I want the viewer to feel calm, smooth and happy. I chose this title because I was thinking of a dragon and it looks like a dragon. I learned that it doesn’t matter if you take the same picture as someone else because you can take it from different angles.



(I) Title: “Rushing Cars”

Artist Statement: I chose this photograph because the cars looked cool as they were rushing by. I want the viewer to feel what it feels like to be rushed as if their boss was rushing them to do something. I learned that different people can take the same photo but each one will be different because of how the photographer angles it.



(J) Title: “The Music Store”

Artist Statement: I chose this shot because it was very colorful and unique. I like this photograph because there are a lot of these in the Somali Mall. This photograph makes me feel colorful. When the viewer looks at this photograph, I want them to feel colorful too. I learned that taking photos can be fun.

Artist Statement: This photograph makes me feel like I am flying. I chose this picture because it makes me feel like a bird and shows me how beautiful Minnesota is.

Artist Statement: I learned that people in this neighborhood like art because there is a lot of graffiti and there is a lot of traffic under the bridge I was standing on.

Artist Statement: I chose this photograph because it is a mystery. You don’t know what it is. Is it a castle or is it a church?


(N) Title: “Hello Kitty Dress”
Location: Somali Mall

Artist Statement: I want the viewer to think Hello Kitty looks nice on a dress. I also want them to know that the Somali Mall is a great place to shop.


(O) Title: “The Garden”

Artist Statement: I took this photograph because I like the trees. It makes me feel like I am planting the trees. My hope is that the viewer will want to plant trees as well. I chose this title because the place reminded me of a garden.


(P) Title: “Cool Car”

Artist Statement: I took this photograph because I thought the car was cool and it also looked like a Transformer Humvee. I like how the photo gives the viewer a sense of want and desire that they can never get rid of.



(Q) Title: “The Chinese Dragon”

Artist Statement: I chose to take this photograph because I don’t see this statue every day. This photograph makes me feel like I went back in time. I want the viewer to feel like it is creative. I chose this title because it made me think of the Chinese people.


(R) Title: “What If This Was the White House?”
Location: Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Artist Statement: I took this photograph from across the street, and I could get the whole building in the picture. The building reminds me of the White House, so that’s how I chose the title of the photograph. I wish Barack Obama lived there so I could visit him in the neighborhood.


(S) Title: “The Traffic Jam”

Artist Statement: I took this photograph because it looked interesting, like the city is popping out at you. The photo made me feel like I am floating. I want people to feel excited when they look at my photograph. I titled my photograph “The Traffic Jam” because it looks like there is a lot of traffic.


(T) Title: “The Gold Water”
Location: Center for Changing Lives

Artist Statement: I like this photograph because it reminds me of spring. I look at the water and it makes me feel calm. I hope the people who look at this photograph see pumpkin seeds because that is what I see. Usually water is blue, but I saw gold. This is why I called this photograph “The Gold Water.”



(U) Title: “Amazing Grace”

Artist Statement: I took this photograph because the sun and light are pretty. The photograph makes me feel like sunshine and makes me feel happy. I feel this photograph is beautiful.
